How Secure Is My Backup Data?

Posted by: Ian | Comments (0)

One of the most important questions a company can ask of a data backup provider is “how secure is my backup data?” or “what precautions and redundancies do you employ to ensure the safety of my data information?”

At Computer Storage Services our facilities are second to none they are actually “World-Class” facilities with redundancies in every area important to information safety.

We have multiple power backups. We have multiple internet connections.  Our building is actually underground and it is not known as an internet backup facility.  We don’t want potential terrorists or people wanting to do harm to specific companies to know where the information is.

All of our customers information is kept confidential and we not only backup their information once at our facility, but we back it up again, and we can even back it up at another facility so that if there was some type of huge disaster in our geographical area  their information would still be safe.

Many data backup companies don’t like to tell their clients that large files over 30 GB can take weeks, or even months to restore over the internet.  If you’re a business or medical corporation you very likely cannot wait for that amount of time to get your computer systems fully operational.

At Computer Storage Services, we have the ability to copy your data to a hard drive and ship your backup data to you literally anywhere in the World.  Once you receive it our technicians are available to help you restore your data.

We’re sometimes asked why a client should pay a little more to us for our premium services versus the budget data backup services found all over the internet.  You just need to ask a client who’s lost their entire computer system and had it resorted by Computer Storage Services. They’ll likely tell you how valuable our service is and how insignificant the few extra dollars to obtain our service was when disaster struck.

Why Pay More for Data Backup

Posted by: Ian | Comments (0)
There are many reasons why you might want to pay more for the data backup services of Computer Storage Services than some of the less expensive backup solutions available today.

  • One of the main reasons is our “Live Telephone Support”.  Not only can you have access to a live person when you need help, but that person has the ability to escalate your service if you have information loss and can’t restore it.
  • Our technical personnel can help you if you don’t know how to retrieve your backup data yourself.  They’ll be able to show you how to retrieve your information, or if need be they can take control of your computer and do the restore for you.
If you’d like to know more about our services please give me a call at 1-888-368-1088 ext. 11 and I’ll be more than happy to answer any of your questions about our data  backup services.

Offsite Information Data Test Restores

Posted by: Ian | Comments (0)
In our experience most companies do not do data information test restores.  The results can be disastrous.  Large file test restores are particularly important because in most cases large data restores are slow over the internet.
—–
Companies need to know how long it takes to restore their information.  Downtime due to lost information can cost companies serious money and potentially the entire business.  When something goes wrong companies need a live person to talk to.  Not an automated recording or email.
At Computer Storage Services we will continue to provide unbiased information to help companies make informed decisions for their ongoing information backup strategies.

The Evolution of Cloud Back Up

Posted by: Ian | Comments (0)
We are finding that companies that started using Computer Storage Services for offsite information backup now incorporate cloud computing as part of their business continuity and disaster recovery strategy.

For example; if the companie’s onsite servers go down the employee’s can logon through a secure VPN (virtual private network) over the internet to a virtual backup server located at one of our locations.  Employees can carry on business as usual anywhere they have internet access.
—–
Many companies have taken this strategy on step further and have eliminated onsite servers altogether and  host their servers at our location. This can reduce the need for office space, reduce hardware costs, and onsite maintenance, while giving employees the flexibility to work from anywhere they have internet access. The company can still manage their IT infrastructure remotely or have Computer Storage Services manage it for them.
——-
For many small companies having a full time qualified IT person is expensive  making CSS’s comprehensive service and support plans  a cost effective alternative. Going forward companies can continue to purchase their own servers and IT infrastructure or they can simply use Computer Storage Service infrastructure on a as per need basis.

Your company’s information is only as safe as the facility in which it’s stored.  You need to make sure that your backup provider has fail-safe hardware, power, and internet redundancy.

In this video Byron Behnke, I.T. Consultant to Computer Storage Services explains that our data centre is equipped with N + 1 redundant air conditioner units.  The transformer power comes from two independent transformer stations and our U.P.S. is powered by natural gas generators so with multiple, independent, internet feeds we can provide you with 99.9% uptime.

If secure, and reliable off site backup is important to your company please give us a call at 1-888-368-1088.  We’ll be happy to show you how we can provide a custom backup solution for your companies security.

The shooting of our Offsite backup, “Onsite and Information Backup”,  segment on Terry Bradshaw’s educational Business Day TV program was very enlightening. The biggest surprise was the enormous amount of work and preparation that goes into a short film clip like the one my company Computer Storage Services did. Believe it or not for our 5 minute film clip there was actually a full day of film shooting.

I have always found public speaking  at best to be stressful and at worst to be terrifying, however I did expect a tv interview, with the luxury of multiple takes,  on  online information backup  should be a snap for me. Not so, lol, I was just as nervous as I was for my very first speaking engagement.

I must thank and congratulate the film crew Business Day    sent as they were very good at making myself and the Computer Storage Services team feel at ease during the shoot.  In retrospect , although I never could be in movies, the day of shooting was quite enjoyable.

I hope you’ll enjoy the video below and if you would like to know how easy and cost effective it can be to back up your valuable data please give me a call at 1-888-368-1088.

Companies are often willing to spend enormous amounts of money to resolve information loss, once it has occurred.  But in many cases no amount of money will resolve the problem.

It is sad but true, but companies often have spent more on their Christmas party than on their  backup and business continuity strategy.  We literally charge companies 10’s of thousands of dollars to try to recover information from crashed or corrupted hard drives and in many cases we still cannot recover all of their information. In the backup world an ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure.  A reliable offsite backup solution is the answer.

At Computer Storage Services we provide companies with onsite backup solutions and should something fail we have an offsite data backup solution in place.  The fact is, onsite backups do fail; hard drives crash, viruses can attack your computers, software can become corrupt, and the list goes on.

Many companies think they do not require offsite remote backup because their servers store information on a RAID  (redundant array of independent disks) platform. With a raid 5 or greater platform if any single hard drive fails  there is no information loss as the total sum of the information is on the other 4 hard drives. In theory this is absolutely correct however in practice IT managers know if you have one drive failure on the same system you are likely to have more very soon or even in some cases at the same time.

We believe that online offsite backup is something that every company should have.
